Design
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE looks very similar to Samsung’s 2020 flagship tablet, the galaxy tab S7 plus. Both have a unibody made from brushed aluminum and the same size screen at 12.4 inches. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE feels just as premium as a flagship too. It’s balanced, solid, and stylish. And the flat sides add a bit of grip. The backside is a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but it’s not a huge deal. The Tab S7 FE sets out to mix features from the tab S7 and S7 Plus into a new package. Let’s talk about the fingerprint reader. You don’t get one here. And that is just about all we can say about that. You do still get face to unlock.
Cameras
Basically, all you get on the back of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is an 8 MP, AF camera with autofocus. Still, during the day, the camera produces pleasant photos with good resolved detail, low noise, and stellar dynamic range. And while the colors are punchier than reality, they’re not over the top. At night, the photos are pretty good. All things considered. You get good color saturation and exposure.
There is night mode support that makes for slightly better exposure. Selfies are taken with a 5 MP front-facing camera, and they’re great. Detailed with a natural rendition. 1080p@30fps is not so much of a Fan feature though is it? Tab S7 FE does not have 4k video recording, but 1080p@30fps. It is not a deal-breaker, but it is worth noting. The video quality is excellent nonetheless.
Display
Like mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE has a 12.4-inch display. But this one is a TFT LCD, not an AMOLED. It is a large display no doubt. Large but without a high refresh rate. It’s just 60 Hertz here. Still, this display is pretty good. The resolution is 2560 by 1600 or 243 PPI which is plenty sharp for a tablet. Blacks are quite deep for an LCD. And while you don’t get color settings, they are accurate out of the box. And brightness is good. On the audio front, you get two speakers here and not four. They’re still tuned by AKG though and have Dolby Atmos support. These earned a good score on loudness charts with their quality rich enough. We mention sound performance under-display since the two go hand in hand. Like when you are watching a movie, or say attending a conference call. See that?
UI and Dex
The interface is Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is Android 11, One UI 3.1.1. In the default tablet view, it looks like a typical Samsung UI. You get edge panels to keep your important shortcuts in. This large screen begs to be used for multitasking. This tablet can have up to three apps open simultaneously. Two within the split-screen, and a third within a floating window. There is actually a second interface available called Samsung Dex mode which provides more of a desktop experience with minimize-able and resizable windows. Dex mode works even better if you attach a keyboard.
Battery
Moving on to battery life, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE has a Li-Po 10090 mAh, non-removable battery capacity. There’s also support for 45W charging. But just like last year’s models, you only get a 15W adapter in the box. With it, you will be able to charge from zero to just 18% in half an hour.
More features
Here on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE, you get a mid-range Qualcomm SM7225 Snapdragon 750G 5G chipset. It’ll get the job done especially when multitasking or using the Samsung Dex desktop mode. The gaming experience is also alright although this table isn’t meant for that. Heavy games will run okay if you turn down the graphic settings. Thermal management on the other hand is really good here, and you get 5G connectivity. Also, there is that S-Pen on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. It’s passive though and not active. So the FE doesn’t have a charging bed. But you still get to the functions present on last year’s high-end models.
